"The waving flame of oblivion" è l'album di debutto autoprodotto di Visionoir: da forma e unità al materiale scritto nel corso degli anni, in seguito al fortunato demo del 1998 "Through the inner gate". Unisce tracce dalle sonorità ed influenze assai diverse, dal progressive rock al doom e gothic metal, ed è stato interamente scritto, suonato e registrato dal solo Alessandro Sicur.
Le voci narranti sono estratte da registrazioni originali delle voci di alcuni grandi poeti del '900 come Dylan Thomas e TS Eliot.
