I Port-Royal si sono guadagnati un largo seguito e un grande rispetto con il loro debutto "Flares" che a suo tempo fece restare a bocca aperta... Goffamente raggruppato nel post rock dai giornalisti più pigri, il quaretto genovese ne è invece più che mai lontano. "Afraid To Dance" chiarirà finalmente come stanno le cose. I Port-Royal hanno raffinato il proprio sound (non c'è nessuna sterzata a sinistra stile "Kid A" qui), trovando il perfetto mix tra dinamiche shoegazer ("Roliga Timmen"), tranquilli panorami ambient evocati dai synth ("German Bigflies"), e innovazioni da dance intelligente ("Deca-Dance"). Port-Royal gained a large following and much respect from their jaw-dropping debut "Flares". Awkwardly bundled in with the post-rock genre by lazy journalism, the Genoa-based quartet are so much more than that. "Afraid To Dance" will finally set the record straight. The Royals have refined their sound (there's no "Kid A" style left turns here), finding the perfect blend between shoegazer dynamics ("Roliga Timmen"), tranquil ambient synthscapes ("German Bigflies") and IDM innovation ("Deca-Dance"). Said to be the most anticipated album in their record label's history, Port-Royal have produced another stunning release. A beautiful album.
