Circa una settimana fa, leggevo una grande storia dell'emo-core dalla fine degli anni 80 al 2000, su un blog di mp3. Dopo il 2000 l'emo è diventato uno stile di abbigliamento per teenager e un modo per attirare l'attenzione. Se vi state chiedendo che fine ha fatto il vero hardcore emozionale, beh, pare che si sia trasferito a Milano. Il terzo e omonimo album dei Fine Before You Came è un racconto di trascinante indie rock emozionale senza l'immagine "emo". Nonostante la maggior parte dei pezzi siano midtempo, e chitarre e voci siano per lo più pulite e melodiche, il sound generale è piuttosto heavy ed emozionale come quello degli svedesi Katatonia o degli emo indie Hot Water Music e Christie Front Drive. Un po' monotono se ascoltato dall'inizio alla fine e un po' troppo rabbioso, l'album manca di sfumature, ma sorprendentemente non è per nulla noioso. Su tutte spicca la traccia numero quattro, "Black Swan", più soft delle altre: quasi una canzone elettropop dall'incredibile riff di basso e dalla grande sensibilità musicale. // Mersenne (Traduzione di RS)

A week or so ago, I read a great emo history feature by an mp3blog that showcased the history of emo/hardcore music from the end of 80's to 2000. Emo after that has mutated into a teenage cosplay and a way to demand attention. If you wonder what happened to real emotional hardcore, it seems to have moved to Milano. Fine Before You Came's self titled 3rd album is a tale of driving emotional indie rock without the "emo" image. Although most of the songs on the album are midtempo and the guitars and the vocals are mostly clean and melodic, the music feels pretty heavy and emotional like Sweden's Katatonia or the emo/indie of Hot Water Music / Christie Front Drive. Soundwise the album is a bit monotonous when you listen to the album from head to toe, it's a bit too raw and there's a lack of secondary things going on in the music but surprisingly it's not boring at all. The standout track for me is the 4th track "Black Swan" which is a softer almost electropop song with an incredible bass riff & great musicianship.
