C'è uno spot della Vodafone sulle tv olandesi (e forse anche in altri Paesi) con un uomo che cammina in un prato, e all'improvviso si trova circondato da amici, belle ragazze, farfalle ed edifici. Come in una surreale passeggiata pomeridiana. La magica musica di questo video è di Gustavo Santaolalla, ed è stata usata in precedenza nel film "Babel" (se non l'avete visto, fatelo ORA!). diverse canzoni di "Legno", come "Gli Avamposti Sono Minati", hanno la stessa magica atmosfera della colonna sonora di Santaolalla. Ho scritto "canzoni", ma "Legno" presenta solo miniature chitarristiche strumentali, che in qualche modo mi ricordano i Durutti Column, anche se Vini Reilly è un chitarrista molto migliore di Egle Sommacal. Nonostante i suoi limiti tecnici, "Legno" è la perfetta musica di sottofondo per un giorno d'estate, con tocchi di country, folk e blues. There's this Vodafone commercial on tv in Holland (probably in other countries too) with a man walking in a field, who finds himself suddenly surrounded by friends, beautiful girls, butterflies and buildings. Like a surreal afternoon walk. The magical music is this video is by Gustavo Santaolalla, and used before in the movie Babel (if you have not seen this movie, do it NOW). Some songs on Legno, like Gli Avamposti Sono, have the same magical atmosphere as Santaolalla's soundtrack. I wrote songs, but Legno features only instrumental guitarminiatures, that in some way remind me of The Durutti Column, although Vini Reilly is a far better guitarplayer than Egle Sommacal. His technical limitations notwithstanding, Legno is perfect backgroundmusic for a summer's day, with touches of country, folk and blues. If you close your eyes, you might see some buildings, butterflies and beautiful girls.
