Canzone che miscela indie pop e dream pop con accenni alla dance e all’elettronica stile Daft Punk, “Something (you don't need)” si sviluppa come un discorso a due voci dove la mia si intreccia con quella di Nobody, a volte attuando un gioco di risposte, altre armonizzando, altre accavallandoci a coprirci l’un l’altra, “costringendo” l’ascoltatore a decidere chi “seguire”: “The importance of words”. “Something (you don't need)” è un altro brano dove al centro dell’attenzione c’è la società dei consumi e di come questa ci influenza, in questo caso rispetto allo spasmodico bisogno di dover apparire sempre fisicamente perfetti, in un perpetuo gioco dove il sottinteso è quello di infondere nelle persone l’idea malata di non essere mai all’altezza delle aspettative, in modo da infondere insicurezza negli individui. Del resto, non c’è miglior consumatore di una persona insicura, che colma le proprie insicurezze acquistando ciò che la società gli suggerisce possa migliorare il proprio status; senza tralasciare il fatto che una persona insicura sarà, in generale, più facilmente soggiogabile e controllabile, a tutti i livelli.
