DESCRIZIONE
Primo singolo estratto da Red Leech Road, Baba Jaga racconta la necessità di non vivere passivamente e superficialmente, criticando chi affronta la propria esistenza come un automa.
Nata da un giro di chitarra concepito in un casuale momento di ispirazione, i Crossin’ Midnight sfruttano l’atmosfera mistica del ¾ per strutturare una canzone che gli permetta di raccontare una fiaba. Prendono ispirazione dal mito della Baba Jaga, creatura fantastica del folklore est-europeo, che interpretano come l’entità giudice del vivere pienamente la propria vita.
Nella seconda parte della canzone, i cambi di metrica e ritmo permettono al narratore di rivolgersi direttamente all’ascoltatore, invitandolo ad immedesimarsi nel protagonista e ponendolo davanti ad una decisione da prendere.
L’atmosfera fiabesca viene enfatizzata dall’alternarsi di momenti di tensione e distensione, grazie anche al ruolo importante giocato dalle voci, risultando in un arrangiamento tanto originale quanto efficace senza uscire dai canoni del Rock.
