And here I am sitting in front of the great book of the names of men
Oppressed by the burden of my task
A feather broke off and, whirling,
Caught fire when it hit the ground

A soul has separated from its body
A tear falls down my face
As I delete a name on the right hand sheet

I sigh as I cover my four faces
With the hood of my great cloak
I fly up to assert

The divine justice that accompanies my deeds
A soldier serves the country, an archangel serves the Messiah

A shiver shakes me and my plumage lights up,
A new little feather has appeared strong and shiny!
I go back to sit at my old desk
And moved by joy I write a name on the left hand sheet

My existence: an eternal oscillation between pain and joy
My destiny: to reside in the third heaven without (ever dying!!!)
