Sports, the new EP of the Rome-based Love The Unicorn, opens with the sound of the sea.. While the sound that closes it, farther and suspended, is that of a road. In the reverbs of the guitars, in the light-stretched melodies, in the pure and serene air you breathe between songs, the setting for this album is the desire to escape…somewhere distant. The song’s titles give some hints to begin with: Young, Girlfriend, Never / ending Summer … Love The Unicorn themselves chose with the word “sport” (from the Latin word indicating to exit from the walls of the city to engage in competitive activities) the real idea behind their release: “Sports is a soundtrack to youth, to hangin’ out, going out. ”. If the race is that to the new season, full of sunshine and promises, with this EP Love The Unicorn is already showing-off during the training.

Il suono con cui si apre Sports, il nuovo EP della band romana Love The Unicorn, è quello del mare. Quello che lo chiude, più lontano e sospeso, è quello di una strada. Nei riverberi delle chitarre, nelle melodie che si distendono leggere, nell’aria schietta e serena che si respira tra le canzoni, la cornice di questo disco vuole essere dunque il desiderio di evasione, la necessità della distanza. I titoli in scaletta suonano già come una dichiarazione d’intenti: Young, Girlfriend, Never/ending Summer… Gli stessi Love The Unicorn hanno voluto indicato nell’etimologia della parola “sport” (dal termine latino che indicava l’uscire dalle mura della città per dedicarsi ad attività agonistiche) la vera idea guida di tutta la raccolta: «Sports è un inno all’età giovane, alla voglia di perdersi, alla voglia di uscire, andare fuori». Se la gara è la corsa verso la stagione nuova, piena di sole e promesse, con questo EP i Love The Unicorn si mostrano già avanti con gli allenamenti.
