Equally relentless in emotional weight to a desire for reprieve, MØAA’s debut album “Euphoric Recall” reflects the incessant itch to sort through the distorted haunts of the mind. Due to the nature of MØAA’s isolated writing process, some songs embodied letters that would never be sent, while others served as a sonically induced salve, to take the edge off by generating a dissociative dream state. These motivations behind the writing ultimately formed the dynamic nature of Euphoric Recall and how it moves melodically through a spectrum of melancholy, suspense, and reflection while maintaining a consistently moody and reverberated soundscape.
Opening with “Exist”, “X Marks'', and “Flashlight” which are the most ethereal and dream pop-esque tracks of the album, MØAA explores themes on isolation, identity, and betrayal with an emphasis on perseverance. The album later progresses into a deeper, darker cavernous underground with “O2”, “Lam”, and “Night Vision” where a more sinister and evocative spirit is portrayed through a veil of distorted guitars and fuzzed out basslines with lyrical odes to love-hate relationships, ego collapse, and hazy hallucinations. All of this sets the stage for “Don’t Mind”, a heavy and melodic, yet dissonant dungeon requiem which at it’s finale evaporates into the dystopian driving psychedelic outro of “Diffuse”.

Altrettanto implacabile dal peso emotivo al desiderio di tregua, l'album di debutto di MØAA "Euphoric Recall" può essere paragonato al incessante prurito che serve ad ordinare i tormenti più distorti della mente. A causa della natura del processo di scrittura isolato di MØAA, alcune canzoni fungono da lettera che non sarà mai invitata, mentre altre servono, come una pomata indotta sonicamente, per alleviare il dolore generando uno stato di sogno dissociativo. Queste motivazioni alla base della scrittura alla fine hanno formato la dinamica natura di “Euphoric Recall” e il modo in cui si muove melodicamente attraverso uno spettro di malinconia, suspense e riflessione, pur mantenendo un paesaggio sonoro costantemente lunatico e riverberato.
Aprendo con "Exist", "X Marks" e "Flashlight", che sono senza dubbio le tracce più dream-pop ed eteree dell'album, MØAA esplora i temi dell'isolamento, dell'identità e del tradimento con un'enfasi sulla perseveranza. L'album successivamente progredisce in un più profondo cavernoso underground con "O2", "Lam" e "Night Vision" dove uno spirito più sinistro ed evocativo è ritratto attraverso un velo di chitarre distorte e linee di basso sfocate con odi liriche verso le relazioni di amore-odio, il collasso dell'ego e le allucinazioni nebulose. Tutto questo pone le basi per "Don't Mind", un requiem pesante e melodico, ma dissonante, come se fosse stato scritto in una prigione sotterranea, che nel suo finale evapora nell'outro psichedelico distopico di "Diffuse".
