Reggae Survival, il nuovo album di Raphael, pubblicato dall’etichetta americana Sugar Cane, diretta dal cantante Jah Sun e dal noto produttore Don Sugar.
Anticipato dal singolo “Joka Soundbwoy feat. Triston Palma”, Reggae Survival, secondo album solista di Raphael, è registrato e mixato tra Giamaica, Stati Uniti e Italia, prodotto da Don Sugar (Usa) e dallo stesso Raphael con il supporto di Bizzarri Records (Italia) e dell’etichetta francesce Irie Ites. Un album dal suono moderno e dal respiro internazionale che affonda le sue radici nel reggae roots giamaicano.
Reggae Survival si compone di nove tracce inedite e una dub version del singolo “Dread Inna Babylon” e si avvale della collaborazione del veterano Triston Palma (che ha, inoltre, curato alcune session nel suo studio di Kingston) e del featuring di Lion D, ormai affermato artista nel panorama internazionale e compagno di scuderia, con cui duetta in “Who Dem a Pree”. Dean “Cannon” Fraser, storico sassofonista e produttore giamaicano, si è occupato delle sezioni fiati.
Testi impegnati e di denuncia, affrontano temi legati principalmente ai diritti sociali, trovano interessanti spunti nel pensiero di personaggi come Fela Kuti, indimenticabile re dell’Afrobeat, e Josè “Pepe” Mujica, rivoluzionario, ex Presidente dell’Uruguay, che Raphael ricorda, in questo lavoro, attraverso frammenti di alcuni loro discorsi pubblici.
Reduce dal Mind vs Heart Tour grazie al quale ha collezionato più di 150 concerti che lo hanno visto esibirsi in 15 diversi stati in Europa, Messico e Giamaica, Raphael, con Reggae Survival,
torna con un nuovo tour che, oltre all’Italia e all’Europa, in estate approderà negli Stanti Uniti.
