TESTO
From the window of my room,
in one of the many invisible worlds,
that don't know who I am,
and if they did, what would they understand?
I watch the road flow before my eyes,
where people pass, unaware of my weight,
with the Tagus gliding like lost thoughts,
and life pulsates in the noise of everyday life,
a destiny that guides everyone's steps.
Every step, an untold story,
every step, a mystery that passes through us,
while destiny carries us forward,
on roads that seem empty, but are everything.
I am nothing.
I will never be anything.
I can't want to be anything.
Aside from that, I have all the dreams of the world
within me.
Today I am defeated, as if I knew the truth,
today I am lucid, as if I were about to die.
I step away from the window and sit down,
wondering what I know about who I am,
to be what I gaze upon? But how many of me are
there?
Perhaps some of those sitting
smoking in front of
A Brasileira on Rua Garréte;
And an unfamiliar voice,
the smell of tobacco mingling with silence,
where dreams become glances and fade away.
Today I feel lost,
with a thought that gives no respite,
I leave seriousness, reality, and chaos,
for a silent farewell, a departing train.
There's a vibration in the air, a deep jolt,
like a farewell to everything I've loved,
while life flows, I remain here,
wondering if everything is a dream, an illusion.
And yet, I see myself in the smoke,
in the tobacconist's across the street,
a reality I encounter,
but inside me, everything is different.
I’m nothing.
I’ll always be nothing.
I can’t even wish to be something.
Aside from that, I’ve got all the world’s dreams
inside me.
I failed in all my attempts,
I had no plans, only visions,
I immersed myself in the window,
and searched for the space of a new dream.
Our time is a flow,
the signs that fade,
the words I wrote
dissolve in the wind.
I light a cigarette,
a moment of boredom,
while destiny waits,
and in the end frees me.
I’m nothing.
I’ll always be nothing.
I can’t even wish to be something.
Aside from that, I’ve got all the world’s dreams
inside me.
