Lungo questa strada/The road we wander

Per scrivere questa breve presentazione, abbiamo aspettato che il disco fosse pronto e, prima di mandarlo in stampa, ci siamo seduti sul divano, abbiamo acceso il nostro stereo e abbiamo messo su i due CD. Li abbiamo ascoltati in silenzio e senza distrazioni. Ci siamo fatti rapire dalla musica e dalle parole. Ci siamo regalati poco più di un’ora di tempo e il risultato è stato molto piacevole. La musica fluiva senza entrare in conflitto con i testi e ci ha accarezzato come una brezza estiva, lasciando una sensazione di relax, che dopo tutto il lavoro che abbiamo fatto ci ha ripagato in abbondanza.
Questo disco è il risultato di tutte le forme musicali che Tiziano ha sperimentato negli anni e che non hanno, quindi, una connotazione precisa. E perché in italiano e in inglese? Perché Tiziano è italiano e Anny è australiana e ci siamo divertiti a giocare con le due lingue. I testi non affrontano tematiche sociali o politiche e anche l’amore romantico o quello passionale è stato trattato marginalmente. Ci interessava indagare di più sulle nostre esperienze. Quelle esperienze che ci hanno portato a condividere la nostra quotidianità con parole che, a volte, possono apparire filosofiche o poetiche, che sembra sfiorino il nichilismo, ma che in realtà, sono sgorgate dal cuore nella sua più ingenua semplicità.
È l’Amore che ha la maggior rilevanza in questo disco. Avremmo potuto chiamarlo “Dieci Canzoni d’Amore” perché questo, in realtà, sono. L’Amore nelle sue tante forme, che è allo stesso tempo Uno: amore per noi stessi e per gli altri, per il divino e per la vita, per questa strada di gioia e di dolore, questa strada a volte leggera e levigata, altre volte aspra e ripida. La Strada che percorriamo, più o meno velocemente, non sapendo dove ci porterà. Non ci sono indicazioni o mappe da seguire, ma sappiamo che arriveremo tutti alla stessa inevitabile e fantastica destinazione. Eppure la strada è unica e meravigliosa, per ognuno di noi. Le nostre canzoni parlano di Questa Strada, parlano di noi, parlano a noi. Siamo sicuri che parleranno anche a te.

We waited until the album was ready to be sent to press before writing this brief presentation. We sat down and listened to the two CDs as we like to do, in silence and without distractions. We let ourselves be carried away by the music and the words. We treated ourselves to an hour or so of time just to listen, and it was a treat. The music flowed easily without creating conflict with the lyrics and washed over us like a summer breeze, leaving a relaxing sensation that more than compensated all the work of bringing this project to light.
This album is the result of all the musical genres that Tiziano has experimented with over the years, so there is no one name to describe it and no one box into which it fits. And why in English and Italian? Because Tiziano is Italian and Anny is Australian, and we had fun playing with the two languages. These songs don’t address social or political themes, and they talk about romantic or passionate love only marginally. We were more interested in looking closely at our own experiences, and to share those aspects of our lives that, for us, are important, in words that may at times seem philosophical or poetical or may even touch on a kind of nihilism but which, in reality, came from the heart with an almost naïve simplicity.
Still, it is of Love that this album speaks. Indeed, we might equally have called it “Ten Love Songs” because that is what they are. Love in its many forms, which is at the same time one: love for our selves and for each other, for the divine and for life, for this road of joys and heartbreaks, this road so gentle and smooth and then so rocky and steep, that we wander or rush along, not knowing where it will take us. For though there are no road signs or maps to guide us we all reach the same inevitable and fantastic destination. Yet the road, for each one of us, is unique and wonderful. These songs speak of that road, they speak of us, they speak to us. We hope they speak to you too.
